Building Confidence
Through Football

In 2021, 49ers PREP presented by U.S. Bank made the long-awaited return to in-person programming while also remaining committed to serving youth in a virtual capacity. Here’s how we expanded our impact and encouraged young athletes to live an active, empowered and well-rounded lifestyle.

Bothman Inc., the Wender Weis Foundation for Children, and Newfront Insurance to celebrate the grand opening of a new outdoor Fitness Zone at Joel Davis Park. Students from East Palo Alto participated in a football camp and ceremonial ribbon-cutting featuring 49ers Alumni Patrick Willis, Dennis Brown, Ricky Watters, and Guy McIntyre to officially open the space to East Palo Alto residents.

Mentorship Academy Presented by the William V. Campbell Family Foundation

In October, 49ers PREP presented by U.S. Bank hosted the football team captains of Balboa High School (San Francisco), Irvington High School (Fremont), and Sobrato High School (Morgan Hill) for its annual Mentorship Academy presented by the William V. Campbell Family Foundation. The entire 2021 49ers Rookie class surprised the high school students and led a discussion focused on leadership development and the importance of having–and being–positive role models. With support from the William V. Campbell Family Foundation and the Westly Foundation, this once-in-a-lifetime experience for student-athletes provided the platform, lessons and materials to become mentors and further impact countless youth football players in their communities.

T.H.I.N.K. GOLD

49ers PREP presented by U.S. Bank hosted a virtual T.H.I.N.K. Gold! Conference presented by Fuel Up to Play 60 and Dairy Management Inc. Together the organizations hosted over 25 female high school athletes from the Bay Area who had the opportunity to virtually meet and learn from 49ers staff and women of the Front Office. The sessions taught a variety of social and physical exercises encouraging academics and the importance of living a healthy, well-rounded lifestyle.

49ERS PREP PRESENTED BY U.S. BANK VIRTUAL FITNESS

49ers PREP continued to develop its Virtual Fitness Program content designed to help young people stay active and fit during the pandemic. Fresh Lifelines For Youth

Since Fresh Lifelines for Youth’s (FLY’s) founding in 2000, the 49ers Foundation has supported the organization’s work to interrupt the pipeline to prison and support youth on their path to healthy, free and productive lives. FLY connects young people with positive mentors and role models, promotes their understanding of the law and their rights and supports them to become leaders among their peers and in their communities. FLY also helps our juvenile justice systems become more just, humane and equitable.

Tipping Point

For over a decade, the 49ers Foundation has proudly supported Tipping Point and its mission to create economic mobility for the 1 in 3 people in the Bay Area who can’t meet their basic needs. Tipping Point has raised more than $300 million since 2005 to advance the most impactful solutions for pulling people out of poverty through housing, early childhood, education, employment and policy solutions. Last year alone,Tipping Point's 41 grantees provided life-changing services to more than 500,000 people.
